DTS network design update

This post is intended to give our clients and channel partners an update on our network coverage, sorry if it isn’t the most compelling post we have put out.

In recent times we have significantly increased our access to tier one providers across New Zealand. Our basic goal is to never find ourselves unable to support a client, or potential client, due to a lack of access to fibre/copper in the ground.

UFB has obviously been a big focus for us, and with 17 UFB handovers in place around NZ, and more to follow, DTS is quietly going about establishing the best access to UFB services in the industry. We supplement our access to Chorus, UFF, Enable and Northpower by also connecting to a couple of other providers that supply services very similar to UFB GPON tails, namely Unison and Electricity Ashburton.

As per the attached diagram, we now have direct access to UFB in the following regions:

  • Whangareidts6
  • Auckland
  • Tauranga
  • Hamilton
  • Rotorua
  • Taupo
  • Napier/Hastings
  • Kapiti
  • Wellington
  • Nelson
  • Christchurch
  • Ashburton
  • Timaru
  • Queenstown/Wanaka
  • Dunedin
  • Invercargill

We also have direct access to premium (P2P) fibre services in NZ on the following networks:

  • Chorus
  • Vector
  • CityLInk
  • Vodafone
  • Vocus

In the coming months we expect to roll out additional UFB handovers in Palmerston North, Greymouth, Masterton and other areas as dictated by customer demand.

This isn’t a low cost process, but as I have repeatedly said in many posts, scale is everything. DTS is working hard to ensure that we continue to grow nationally, and that our wholesale access pricing in every region is on par with that of even our largest competitors.
